Life Skills
In a constantly changing environment, having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life. To cope with the increasing pace and the inherent changes in modern life, students need new life skills such as the ability to deal with stress and frustration. Today’s students will have many new jobs over the course of their lives with variable pressures and the need for flexibility.
What are the benefits?
- Find new ways of thinking and problem-solving
- Recognize the impact of their actions and teaching them to take responsibility for what they do, rather than blame others
- Build confidence both in verbal skills and in group collaboration and cooperation
- Review options, make decisions, and understand why they make certain choices outside the classroom
- Develop a greater sense of self-awareness and appreciation for others
Supportive Counseling Program
For the 2021-2022 school year, our district is adding another level of social-emotional support through the hiring of a full-time counselor shared between our 3 elementary school sites. Our district goal is to share resources and build on programs we currently use such as Lifeskills, Kimochis, No Bully, Peaceful Pathways, Mindfulness, and more!
Lucas Valley Elementary School 2021-2022 LIFE SKILLS
We will be sharing these skills at assemblies and working internally to design creative strategies to implement across our community.
